So, We Meet For The First Time.
Today I was supposed to be helping Daniel move house, that is until Rae pointed out that she might find it nice to spend some time with grown ups doing grown up things.
Fine, I’m pretty busy with work at the moment so I would stay home with kids and get some of this new site done. Great plan. Mr Narky boy decided to have a whingey afternoon, but that wasn’t too bad ’cause he would be very well behaved when picked up so I got to carry him around and spend some time with him and Phee.
All was going well until about 1:30. Then it happened. The nappy was suddenly full.
I have to admit now that this was my first pooey nappy. For the weeks I was at home when he was a new born he had, I think, about two poos. Now I’m back at work he has conveniently decided to confine his bowel movements to the morning so mum takes care of him. I’m not sure what happens on weekends, maybe he takes them off, but I hadn’t yet had to face the horror on my own.
We both survived, although I did somehow manage to transfer some, um, stuff, on to his jump suit and the outside of the fresh nappy (I know, it’s a rare skill) so we went through one more nappy and outfit than planned for the day but all in all it wasn’t too bad.
However, if you are a first time expecting dad let me disavow you of two poo related fallacies.
a) It doesn’t stink until they start on solids. HAH!
and
b) It’s not so bad when it’s your own child. Trust me, it is. How something white and wet can come out that shade of green and so sticky is beyond me.

Ahhh… the first poopy nappy experience. Welcome to the fold, me dear. And I’ve often wondered about that. AND where the hell all the water comes from too, considering the mini explosion we had this afternoon.

Practice makes perfect … I think that next time you are home and it’s a number twos, Rae definitely needs to hand Albert over to you!

Noice, very noice. Our youngest, Owen, has his first movement first thing in the morning it would seem! So when Dad is getting ready for work and Owen awakens, Daddy gets his first little treat of the day! When I open the nappy and stand open-mouthed, Owen giggles, smiles at me and says ‘Poo!’ and continues giggling. He’s all too aware of what’s going on. ;)
